UFC 202: diaz vs mcgregor 2 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that will be held on August 20, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

‘The biggest rematch in UFC history…’

After Conor McGregor was defeated by Nate Diaz via submission at UFC 196: mcgregor diaz fight, a rematch was announced within a matter of weeks. Initially scheduled to take place on July the 9th at UFC 200 however, the ‘Notorious’ Irishman was pulled from the card for refusing to fulfill some of his media obligations.

In the weeks that months that followed, diaz mcgregor became one of the most overdrawn and protracted sagas in the history of the MMA promotion.

Persistently absurd reports claimed that the Irishman was being lined up to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. while it was simultaneously reported that Diaz was trying to renegotiate his contract for a bigger payday at the rescheduled UFC 202 mcgregor diaz 2 rematch.

Things got so out of hand in fact that Dana White announced last week that they were looking for a new opponent for McGregor due to the unreasonable nature Diaz’s demands.

The event is expected to be headlined by a welterweight rematch between The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner and former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz and UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.

The pairing previously met earlier in the year at UFC 196. ufc 202 fight card McGregor was expected to challenge then UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos, but dos Anjos pulled out due to a broken foot only 11 days before the event. Diaz eventually replaced him and the bout was shifted to the welterweight division. Diaz won the fight via rear-naked choke in the second round. Their rematch was originally expected to take place at UFC 200, but everything changed during mid-April, as a disagreement between McGregor and the UFC, regarding his media schedule, led to his removal from the event and then Nate Diaz was also pulled out. UFC President Dana White said diaz vs mcgregor they worked on booking the rematch due to "McGregor's obsession with it".

A bout between former UFC Light Heavyweight Championship challengers Anthony Johnson and Glover Teixeira was expected to serve as the co-main event for UFC on Fox: Holm vs. Shevchenko. However, Johnson pulled out one month before the event to tend to personal issues. In turn, promotion officials elected to pull Teixeira from the card and the pairing was left intact and rescheduled to take place at this event.
